PART-TIME, ONLINE STORE COORDINATOR - BROOKLYN, NY

ABOUT THE POSITION

FABSCRAP is a start-up nonprofit rethinking textile waste in the fashion, interior design, and entertainment industries in NYC. We provide convenient pickup of unwanted fabric and actively engage the local creative community in reuse.

This Online Store Coordinator will oversee our fabric listings and digital sales! You will be responsible for: describing and uploading our online store inventory, virtual appointments, digital customer outreach, and phenomenal customer service.

We’re a small team and everyone contributes beyond their core responsibilities. Teamwork and initiative are a must! Because of the start-up nature of our work, things move quickly, and you’ll have real ownership to define and refine procedures. We are excited for someone to be creative in this role and grow with us.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

A) Describe Fabrics and Materials for Uploads to Ecommerce site

  • draft text descriptions of fabrics and materials - the role requires confident knowledge of fabric names and ability to identify and communicate qualities such as color, fiber content, fabric weight, etc

  • complete each listing with appropriate tags, matching url’s, cropped images, etc

  • upload a minimum of 15 new listings per week

B) Photograph/Edit Merchandise

  • Capture and edit images of merchandise

  • Achieve a consistent look and feel to all photographs

  • Edit photos for accurate color, lighting, and size representation

  • Organize and save images on hard drive weekly

C) Managing Digital Online Store Inventory on Ecommerce Site

  • Maintain a current presentation of inventory and update stock levels or images as needed

  • Update Master Style Log when new merchandise is added and/or retired

  • work with Online Store Coordinator to ensure physical stock is also maintained

D) Virtual Appointment program

  • Work with management to improve and develop the Virtual Appt Program

  • Manage Virtual Appointment schedule through Calendly

  • Determine sales goals with management.

  • Select fabric based on customer requests prior to virtual appointments

  • Assist customers during and after their appointment, through to invoicing and shipping

E) Digital Sales and Outreach

  • create weekly social media posts and newsletters as outreach to our digital community and nurture relationships to increase our impact and recruit shoppers

  • Contribute ideas for innovative promotions, marketing, or overall enhancements to the online store experience

  • Create potential sales and promotions for the online store based on observed trends

  • Strategize and set sales goals for Online Store and Virtual Appts with management, and record, track, and analyze in a sales tracking doc.

F) Online Order Fulfillment

  • work with Online Store team to ensure timely fulfillment of all orders

  • Maintain branding and quality control of outgoing orders.

G) Customer Service

  • Work with Online Store team to respond to questions, understanding their needs, and sharing appropriate suggestions

  • Turning any frustrated customer to a happy customer with empathy and tact

H) Mission-Focus

Shopping at FABSCRAP means so much more than purchasing fabric from any other retailer. A successful Online Store Coordinator will make sure every customer understands our mission, why using recovered fabric is important, and leave them feeling special for contributing to our industry-changing work, so much so that they feel informed and empowered to share their experience with others!

OTHER ACTIVITIES (AS NEEDED)

  • Communicating what supplies and material are needed to effectively oversee the online store

  • Meticulous record-keeping

  • Working at FABSCRAP events

  • Availability when extra hands are needed in the Reuse Room

  • Represent FABSCRAP appropriately, honestly, and with a positive attitude

  • Provide strategic feedback often to help FABSCRAP grow and succeed

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • *Absolutely must have confident knowledge in indentifying fibers and fabrics, and their uses

  • Prior experience in product photography and photo editing preferred

  • Prior experience in ecommerce product is preferred

  • Prior experience with Shopify is preferred

  • Prior customer service experience is preferred

  • Experience with customer outreach and engagement is a plus

  • Extreme attention to detail and organization, bordering on compulsive, means you’ll fit in great here!

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills - efficient but accurate work is required!

SCHEDULE

Start Date: ASAP

Part time, 3 days per week

Tuesdays through Fridays, 9AM - 5PM

FABSCRAP Brooklyn Warehouse

COMPENSATION

$20 per hour
