FABSCRAP aims to provide valuable career experience for everyone participating in our internship program. During an internship, FABSCRAP seeks reliable assistance with a variety of daily tasks and projects. The intern should learn general warehouse operations and specialized fabric recycling and take away skills such as textile recycling and both upcycling and downcycling, as well as sorting through their work with FABSCRAP. The Intern will gain experience in both Reuse and Volunteer Coordinating. Daily tasks of running and managing the Reuse Room include: Move/unpack boxes of new inventory Organize and prepare stock fabrics for Reuse Room Measure and tag fabric Re-roll fabrics Fold fabrics Upkeep Processing Room Learn how to sort Reuse material Prepare the space daily for opening and closing Assist Reuse Coordinator with shoppers Cut fabric and trim Help customers find fabric/materials Daily tasks for Volunteer Coordination include: -Assist the Community Lead with volunteer sessions, sorting processes, and community reuse opportunities. -Lead volunteer sessions (train volunteers to sort material for recycling) -Upkeep volunteer stations before or after sessions -Support community operations (i.e. using Eventbrite, recording volunteer/sorting data) -Assist with free fabric donations and coordination -Prepare facility for opening and closing (closely following COVID safety protocols) Qualifications: -Customer service experience -Organizational Skills -Data Management -Comfortable with public speaking -Attention to detail -Comfortable working in a public-facing role (i.e. volunteers, customers, etc.) -Preference for working in collaborative work environments -Can lift 40 lbs. -Familiarity with textile identification and cutting techniques -Experience working a register -Attune to managing product organization -Comfortable working with various online interfaces and applications -Preference for working in collaborative work environments
