WHY DONATE?

  • Working with more than 700 brands, FABSCRAP recycles and redistributes hundreds of thousands of pounds from the fashion design and entertainment industry in New York City and Philadelphia every year. Through a robust volunteer program and serving as a resource for affordable, high-quality fabric, we’re building a network of designers, makers and sustainability leaders who are invested in a creative disruption of waste. 

  • FABSCRAP has been innovating at the intersection of sustainability and fashion for almost five years. In that time, we’ve built systems for diverting fabric from landfill and taken a lead in data collection to examine details of

  • Quantifying the fashion industry’s waste problem. In addition to yearly customized data reports for each of our partner brands, we share public data that provides transparency around the fashion industry, educating the next generation of designers and informing consumers. 

  • Usable textiles are sent to landfill, unworn clothing is incinerated, and there are insignificant or nonexistent measures of waste - it’s long overdue to examine the fashion industry’s role in our global climate crisis. FABSCRAP is providing an alternate option for brands to responsibly manage their resources and adding a more sustainable choice of material for all makers. Recycling textiles is associated with more greenhouse gas savings than paper, plastic, and glass recycling combined, and every 10 pounds of fabric diverted from landfill has the same CO2-reducing benefit as planting a tree.
